Camping 2009

Matthew's families annual trip to the Mountains 2009.
This year was the 40 something year that Matthew's great grandfather started taking the family to the mountains in Franklin, North Carolina.
They have stayed at Standing Indian Campground every year!
We(Matthew, Matthis, Becky, Chevy, and I) left for the mountains at 1:30am on Saturday morning arriving a short time before lunch. It wasn't long after we arrived and had lunch that Matthew's Aunt Teresa, Uncle Larry and their grandson Alek arrived. Matthis and Alek became instant buds! Sunday we went whitewater rafting on the Nantahala river. Matthew's Mom and Dad arrived that afternoon. Monday we hiked several trails in the camp ground. Tuesday we made the annual trip to the Fire Tower along the Appalachian Trail. Then came the rain so we didn't get to hike to Laural Falls. Wednesday we packed up and headed home, arriving in Jacksonville around midnight.
This picture was taken from a moving car. I am sure my husband was not going the speed limit!

Our Family

The whole gang minus Aunt Teresa and Uncle Larry after 20 times to the fire tower they didn't feel they needed to see it again!
Lunch after the hike on the side of the road!

On the way home at a small church. Matthis did very well riding in the car for such a long time but we had to let him out a few times to run off some energy!
